Delhi is a city of early mornings, which means a great deal of it is asleep by eleven. Paharganj is not, and neither are we.
The rooftop, first
Our own cafe stays open around the clock, which is the honest answer for a guest walking in at 2:00 AM after a delayed train. In-room dining runs on the same hours. It is not a compromise menu — the kitchen keeps a full late list, and breakfast starts at 5:30 AM for anyone catching the first train out.
The street, second
Main Bazaar keeps its own hours. A few paratha and omelette stalls run deep into the night, and the chai does not stop. Prices are low and the turnover is high, which is the best food-safety guarantee a street stall can offer: eat where there is a queue, and where the pan is hot.
What to order late
- Aloo paratha with curd — the standard, and the reason to be awake.
- Bread omelette — fast, cheap, everywhere.
- Chai, twice — the second one is always better than the first.
A word on timing
If you are arriving after midnight, message the hotel before you land. We will keep something ready and the night desk will know your name when you walk in. Nobody should have to negotiate for a meal at the end of a fourteen-hour journey.
